Direct Feed

Your favorite coffee beans sit in the top of the grinder where you can see them in a container that will hold 6 ounces of beans. Once you’ve programmed the type of grind and the time you’d like it to start, the grinder will do its work. The resulting grind will be fed directly to the coffeemaker’s filter where the brewing cycle will initiate.

Grinder Settings

The 5 fineness setting ranges from light to dark, and fine or coarse. The conical grinder features a solid steel burr that will keep the beans from being sliced. The burr is a good feature for a grinder because it doesn’t allow heat to build up in the bean, which can pull the flavors from the bean before they’re allowed to brew. With an electric grinder, you’re getting a uniform grind and a consistent cup of coffee every morning. The buttons are available to change the fineness to coarseness from 1 to 5.

Aroma Setting

This is where the strength of the coffee grind is set. The aroma refers to the color of the bean you’ve chosen. A dark bean with a setting of 10 for aroma will grind for 40 seconds. For a light bean, the aroma can be set around 2, which will grind the bean for 7 seconds. You might have to adjust this number to find the right setting for your bean flavor profile. If the coffee isn’t strong enough, set the aroma to a higher number for a darker bean.

Water Filtering

The biggest impact on the taste of your coffee after the bean selection and grinding process is the type of water used. The water should be as fresh as possible without having a ton of added chemicals like chlorine or lime. Filtered water is perfect for the creation of a great cup of coffee. It also keeps the coffeemaker from becoming clogged with impurities. The Capresso 10-cup Digital Coffeemaker with Conical Burr Grinder has a charcoal water filter built into the machine to provide the freshest water possible for your coffee each morning.

You’ll never come home to the smell of burnt coffee in the machine’s carafe or having to toss the carafe because you can’t get the coffee off the bottom of the carafe, either.

Remove all packing materials from the machine and wipe it down with a wet cloth. Push the filter holder button to remove the goldtone filter to rinse it before use. Before using the coffeemaker, you’ll need to adjust the clock and grinder settings. Hold the H button on the display until the hour is displayed correctly. The M button will adjust minutes, and the AM or PM should show as well. After the time is set correctly, you can adjust the auto time. The PROG button is used for this purpose. The green light for Auto-On will let you know the machine is set.
