It’s about 5 a.m. as I roll out of bed. It is still dark outside and it looks cold as hell. Shit! Why must I go to that TRX class at the gym at this hour every morning?
It doesn’t matter. I have to get my ass up and ready my body for a great workout.
I want to be healthy and live a long time, I think as I roll out of bed, feeling almost nauseous with exhaustion.
Where the hell are my shorts and runners? Where is my bulletproof vest? NO! Not a real vest, but my first cup of bulletproof coffee of the day that will act as a vest for all of the bullshit that I’ll have to deal with as soon as I set foot through this door.
No, I don’t normally refer to my first cup of coffee as a “bulletproof vest”, but it crosses my mind today as my thoughts are still a series of pops and buzzes. God, I need that coffee!
Bulletproof coffee is a favorite of mine, and it is an easy way to ingest tons of calories in one cup which are at your disposal for many hours to enhance your athletic prowess.
I love this brand, and its only about $20 a bag.
Of course I replaced the snake oil I was using with brain octane oil which is a medium chain triglyceride oil, which does something to the cells in your body so that your fitness performance is on high alert.
That’s what I was after so that cup of coffee was my breakfast. Oh, and by the way, I needed the best organic butter I could find so I talked to the people in my local organic store.
They gave me the scoop on the butter coming from the milk of cows that only ate grain. These cows got to wander the pastures and eat grain that wasn’t poisoned by chemicals.
Sounds like the perfect life to me, if I had to come back as a cow.
Coffee & Abs
If you want the recipe for making this cave man drink of black gold, you just grind your favorite beans yourself using a burr coffee grinder of some repute, and then add a tablespoon or so of the butter and a splash of the oil and heat it up.
Forget the cream and sugar poison and go for a splash of almond milk and a cinnamon stick. A good ration is 2 butters to 1 oil.
Make sure you eat some protein in the morning with that coffee. The protein will take you through the morning with no cravings for the “bad” foods and the coffee with sharpen your brain.
You will also have the energy for lots of interval workouts. You know what that is …. exercise real hard for 20 seconds and then take a 10 second rest.
Do a workout like that through 8 different exercises and you will start to look and feel fantastic.
Of course, eat lots of vegetables and fruit – more veggies than fruit. Cut out the red meat and go for the fish and chicken and turkey that is organic certified.
Eat a big lunch and mid afternoon snack and your salads around 6 p.m.
Just remember to stop eating 3 hours before whatever time you go to bed.
Oh ya – and since I am no doctor, take all this advice with a grain of salt, but drink enough water in a day to make your body pee 4 times.
The cups of coffee don’t count as water. Think of those 3 to 5 cups a days as icing on the healthy body. Life is hard work, I tell ya!
Too many people around me were getting the cancers and the heart attacks and they weren’t even old.
I noticed my pot belly was starting to get bigger at around age 21. I knew that if I didn’t watch out, I would look like I was 9 months pregnant in no time.
I decided to do whatever I could to preserve my muscle mass for as long as possible. I watched my dad get skinnier and skinnier as he grew older.
His bones got very fragile with the loss of calcium and there was no way that would happen to me.
I started to read everything I could get my hands on about health and wellness and coffee.
I discovered that John Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland was famous for its research on wellness.
When I read about a study they did that suggested that caffeine made your brain work better longer, I was very impressed.
I drank coffee so that I could be sharp and could remember all the details of exercising the right way.
And then there was a study from the people at the University of Illinois who discovered that if you drank a cup of coffee about 30 minutes before you did a high intensity workout, your body wouldn’t feel the pain from the exercises with the same intensity.
That meant I could push myself and burn more calories and maintain my high levels longer.
I even found out that way over in Japan, they were studying the effects of caffeine on your blood flow.
They believed that coffee gave you better blood flow in your smaller vessels which increased the amount of oxygen your muscles received.
The result was better circulation and better workouts (Read about that here). That was exactly what I was looking for.
Well, I could go on and on about the benefits of coffee but the bottom line for me was that 3 to 5 cups of caffeinated coffee per day might keep me alive longer and the quality of my life should be better than if I didn’t drink the black stuff.
I know that you can find evidence that the caffeine in coffee might hurt you, but I think you will discover that there are many factors that have to be in place for that to be the case.
One of those factors being drinking a ton of caffeinated coffee. Another factor would be if you are overly sensitive to caffeine. If this is you, just be careful.
I know that my mom can’t sleep at all if she drinks one cup of “normal” coffee and gets the jitters as well.
Meditation is another great way to focus your energy and it will also help you be more productive.
Manage the stress in your life the best way you can, because stress and anxiety is bad for us all. I just recently have worked meditation into my day.
I try to sit still with my eyes closed for 20 minutes around supper time. I think about all the food I use to stuff in my body at that time of day and then I imagined that food killing me inside.
I thought of bowel cancer cells eating me alive from the inside out. Its not a positive thought, I admit, but it keeps me away from that bad food.
After my meditation, I was ready for that fresh salad and there was no way I was going to eat that steak with the red blood dripping on my plate.
I also want to mention that I discovered that all the scientists at all those famous American universities wrote over and over again that smoking with take the life of one in two people who smoke.
Feeling Groovy
Today, I am in my 30’s and I feel great! I drink about 3 cups of coffee a day (coffee includes espresso for me).
I try to stay away from all the unhealthy stuff. I have learned to read the labels on foods and I have learned that words like “palm oil”, “hydrogenated”, “fructose”, and “from a concentrate” are all bad.
I try not to put that stuff in my body.
It is hard sometimes but so important to keep up the good work. I believe that “you are what you eat”.
Until I notice that my abs are starting to get weak and flabby, I will keep making it part of my day, because I think it is a key ingredient to my personal success.
I would like to leave you with my own list of 10 reasons I drink coffee as part of my healthy lifestyle…
